The ETH Medal for the best Master’s thesis was awarded to Derek Mason and Tomas Tomka (both MSc. Biotechnology) and Simon Möller (MSc. Computational Biology and Bioinformatics).
Derek held a BSc. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Boulder, CO, USA when he commenced his studies at D-BSSE in autumn 2015. He graduated in the group of Sai Reddy, working on a synthetic antibody library for mammalian cells. Derek continues his research in this field as a doctoral student in the group of Sai Reddy.
Tomas did his BSc. degree in Computational Science at the University of Basel and graduated in the Computational Biology Group of Dagmar Iber working on travelling waves in somitogenesis. Currently, he is doing an internship in the Pharma Research and Early Development section at Roche.
Simon held a BSc. in Applied and Computational Mathematics from the Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany, when he commenced his studies at D-BSSE in autumn 2014. He graduated in the Computational Evolution Group of Tanja Stadler working on viral epidemics. He now gains professional experience as a software engineer at Google.

Congratulations to the awardees and all D-BSSE graduates!
