Shift Cryptosecurity AG

Shift Cryptosecurity is a spin-off company of BEL and was founded October 30th, 2015 in Basel by BEL collaborator Dr. Douglas J. Bakkum and the entrepreneur Jonas Schnelli.

Shift Crypto AG develops and markets simple and secure hardware &  software products for cryptocurrency management. Their main product is the Bitbox, which is a minimalist hardware wallet in a durable and  portable case that is inserted into a USB port. Private keys are stored  offline in an encrypted form, including a high-security chip that  protects against physical data extraction.

Shift Crypto is a privately held company based in Zurich, Switzerland. The BitBox hardware wallet line started in 2015 with BitBox01, which was one of the first hardware wallets available on the market. The secure dual-chip architecture includes a secure chip for physical device hardening in combination with fully open-source firmware. The current product, BitBox02 features a small form factor and no visible screen when powered off. Shift Crypto unites Bitcoin contributors, crypto experts, and security engineers with the goal to equip users with simple and secure hardware & software products for cryptocurrency management.
