The Cleanroom Facility (CRF) offers state-of-the-art microtechnology tools and comprehensive processing knowledge. Complex microsystems, microelectromechanical systems (MEMS), and microfluidic systems can be fabricated. As one of the first research cleanroom facilities in Switzerland, the D-BSSE cleanroom has the capabilities to process substrate sizes up to 8 inch diameter (200 mm).

The Laboratory Automation Facility (LAF) is specialized in the developing and integration of experimental protocols and lab routines on robotic systems in order to enable faster, more robust and more reproducible workflows in molecular biology, biochemistry and cultivation. It provides support for the research groups of the department and collaborators that needs to use laboratory automation devices.
