Swiss Nanotechnology PhD Award for Estefania Mulvihill
June 2019. Estefania Mulvilhill received the 2019 Swiss Nanotechnology PhD Award for her outstanding work on imaging the human inflammatory protein Gasdermin forming lytic transmembrane pores in membranes.

Marsilius Medal for Daniel Müller
2019 May. Daniel Müller has received the Marsilius Medal from the Marsilius Kolleg of the University of Heidelberg for his merits contributing to the dialogue between scientific disciplines.

Innovation Award of Alberto Elzaburu Foundation for David Martinez-Martin
2018 November. David has been awarded the Innovation Award of the Alberto Elzaburu Foundation for his efforts in transforming scientific creativity into intangible assets that contribute to the progress and well-being of humankind.

Distinction awarded to Rajib Schubert at SNSF Scientific Image Competition
2018 May. Rajib Schubert was awarded the distinction at the 2018 SNSF Scientific Image Competition for his image “Lessons in the land of snows” and the video “Neuron ballad”. This video is particularly impressive as it demonstrates the neuronal response of a mouse’s brain while listening to classical music.
 

Swiss Nanotechnology PhD Award for Gotthold Fläschner and Rajib Schubert
June 2018. Gotthold Fläschner and Rajib Shhubert, each received the “Swiss Nanoscience PhD Prize 2018” for their fantastic publications appearing in Nature (2017) and in Nature Biotechnology (2018).

NATURE Award: The best science images of the year 2017
2017 December. NATURE has selected an image from our recent publication in Nature to be among the 10 best science images of the year 2017.

Group Leader Position and Professorship for Susanne Wegmann
2017 Berlin. Susanne a former PhD student and postdoc of our lab has accepted a new position at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and Humboldt University in Berlin.

Professorship for Michael Krieg
2016 November. Michael former PhD student of our lab has just accepted an offer from the prestigious Institute of Photonic Sciences in Barcelona, Spain (ICFO, https://icfo.eu/). In addition he just received an ERC grant. We wish you an outstanding time!!!

EMBO postdoctoral fellowship
2016 May. Congratulations to Benjamin Gaub for being awarded a long-term EMBO postdoctoral fellowship. Benjamin, who received his PhD from the University of Berkeley, joined us as a postdoc to work on highly exciting and challenging projects in neurobiophysics.

Outstanding Paper Award of the European Microscopy Society
2016 April. Congratulations to David Alsteens and Moritz Pfreundschuh which have been selected to receive the 2016 Outsanding Paper Award of the European Microscopy Society (EMS) in the category "Life Sciences". The award was given for their paper "Imaging G protein–coupled receptors while quantifying their ligand-binding free-energy landscape", which appeared in Nature Methods (2015) 12 (9) 845-851. The Award will be presented during the EMS award ceremony at the 16th European Microscopy Congress, EMC2016, in Lyon, France.

Professorship for David Alsteens
2014 June. Congratulations to David Alsteens who received an offer for a full professorship at the University Catholique de Louvain, Belgium. The UCL belongs to the best universities in Belgium and to the top 100 universities world wide. At the age of 29 David Alsteens is the youngest full professor in Belgium and among the youngest ones in Europe.

Professorship for Clemens Möller
2011 March. We congratulate Clemens Möller for accepting his full professorship in biophysics at the Life Sciences Faculty at the Albstadt-Sigmaringen University, Germany. Professorship for Harald Janovjak

Studienpreis of the Körber Stiftung
2010. We congratulate our former PhD student and lab member Michael Krieg for receiving the Deutscher Studienpreis of the Körber-Stiftung for his PhD thesis. The price will give Michael a great time at the USA. From December 2010 on Michael will join the Stanford School of Medicine as a postdoc.
