Andreas Hierlemann received the DECHEMA Award 2011 of the Max-Buchner Research Foundation for his pioneering interdisciplinary work in developing sensor systems by combining chemical and biological systems with microelectronics. The prize is endowed with € 20'000 and is awarded for outstanding, published research in the fields of applied chemistry, process engineering, biotechnology and chemical apparatus.
