Our paper Reliable detection of subclonal
single-nucleotide variants in tumor cell populations appeared in Nature Communications today (see also ETH Life). In this work, we present the deepSNV algorithm and demonstrate its capability to detect subclonal mutations present in only 1/10,000 cells.

We research in the areas of computational biology, biostatistics, and systems biology. Our activities include the development of mathematical and statistical models, their implementation in computer programs, and application to biomedical problems. We have active research projects on HIV drug resistance, the somatic evolution of cancer, haplotype inference from ultra-deep sequencing data, and reconstruction of signaling pathways from RNAi screens.
