Project
As a member of the integrated processes group within the BPL I work on the design of efficient integrated processes for the production of fine chemicals. We apply ISPR (In-situ product removal) to overcome a number of constraints frequently encountered in biocatalysis like an unfavorable position of the thermodynamic equilibrium. The fully integrated process includes an enzyme membrane reactor, SMB-chromatography and a nanofiltration unit. The major focus of my work is the detailed characterization of the latter two unit operations and the optimization of the fully integrated process.
