2012: Golden Owl 2012 awarded by ETH Zurich’s student association in appreciation of excellent teaching.
2011: DECHEMA Award 2011 of the Max-Buchner Research Foundation for pioneering interdisciplinary work in developing sensor systems by combining chemical and biological systems with microelectronics.
2010: ERC Advanced Investigators Grant 2010 for proposal NeuroCMOS: "Seamless Integration of Neurons with CMOS Microelectronics".
2008: Eurosensors Fellow Award 2008 for outstanding contributions to the field of chemical and biological sensors and to Eurosensors.
2007: Awardee Swiss Technology Award 2007 for "Integrated blood pressure monitoring system".
2005: Donald G. Fink Prize Paper Award 2005 for the most outstanding review paper in all journals, magazines and transactions of the IEEE societies or in the Proceedings of the IEEE during the year 2004 for the paper: "Microfabrication Techniques for Chemical/Biosensors", Proceedings of the IEEE, 2003, 91, 839-863.
2004: Awardee Swiss Technology Award 2004 for "Mc Gas: Microchemical gas analysis system".
2004: Special Award of the Swiss "Stiftung Natur und Umwelt" for the development of the microchemical gas analysis system.
2001: Awardee Swiss Technology Award 2001 for "Application-specific monolithic multisensor systems to detect organic volatiles".
